From June 2026: Easier Cancellation for Online Orders

From June 19, 2026, new EU rules will make it easier for customers to cancel online orders and services. If you sell products or services online, this is important for you.

What is changing?

You must add a clear withdrawal function (for products) or stop function (for services).

This function must be:

• Easy to see
• Easy to find
• Always available during the withdrawal period
• Directly linked to the cancel process

Customers should not have to search or click through many pages.

The main rule is simple: canceling must be as easy as buying.

What stays the same?

The right to cancel does not change. The time limits and conditions stay the same.
Only the process will become easier.

How should it work?

The process must be simple:

1. The customer opens the cancel or stop function
2. The customer fills in their details
3. The customer confirms the cancellation
4. You send a confirmation email immediately

There should be no extra steps.

Who does this apply to?

This rule applies to:

• Webshops
• Online service providers
• Subscription businesses
• Sellers via social media
