In this case study, we showcase how Memo helped Juwelier Kremer, a family-owned jewelry store in Veendam, Netherlands, enhance their online presence. By transitioning their business to Shopify, we created an intuitive, user-friendly online store that reflected their high-quality offerings. The new platform improved inventory management, product display, SEO, and content, enabling Kremer to reach more customers and boost their online presence.

 

Why Shopify?

After considering various options, Shopify was chosen for its simplicity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. It allowed Juwelier Kremer to showcase their full product range, manage inventory efficiently, and reach a broader audience. While we had experience with Shopware, Shopify was a better fit for this project due to its smoother transition and practical features. This also gave us an opportunity to expand our expertise in Shopify development for future client needs.

Challenges 

One of the main challenges in this project was transitioning Juwelier Kremer from their previous e-commerce platform, Shopware, to Shopify. As a business familiar with Shopware’s workflows, adapting to Shopify’s new system required time and effort. Additionally, SEO optimization was crucial, as the site lacked sufficient text on home, category, and productpages, making it difficult for search engines to rank the store. We focused on improving headers, meta descriptions, and content across the site to enhance visibility and create a more SEO-friendly structure for long-term growth.

 

Solutions

Peat Digital designed the store to reflect the brand’s high-quality standards, we built the Shopify store from scratch using Liquid, Shopify's template language, ensuring full flexibility and customization.

We integrated Akeneo for efficient product information management, enabling the enrichment of product listings before they were pushed to Shopify. This ensured detailed, optimized product descriptions and improved search engine visibility. Additionally, we connected the POS system via Alumio, simplifying inventory management and ensuring smooth updates between the physical and online stores.

Results

Since launching the new Shopify store, Juwelier Kremer has seen great improvements. The updated product descriptions and better SEO have increased visibility and user engagement. Inventory management is now simpler thanks to the integration with Akeneo and the POS system, making updates between the online and physical stores more efficient.

Overall, the new store offers a smoother shopping experience, matching the quality of their physical store and positioning Juwelier Kremer for long-term growth.
