During Shopware Community Day 2026, Shopware introduced a new product: Shopware Payments.
Shopware Payments is a fully integrated payment solution built directly into the Shopware platform. Developed together with PayPal, it allows merchants to manage payments, refunds, and payment settings from one central place inside Shopware.
As a Shopware agency, we closely follow these developments because they directly impact how we build, optimize, and scale commerce solutions for our clients.
Why this matters
Many online stores still rely on multiple tools and integrations to handle payments. This often leads to extra complexity, more maintenance, and dependencies on external systems.
Shopware Payments aims to simplify this by bringing payment management into the core of the platform.
Key benefits
- Multiple payment methods in one solution
- Buy Now, Pay Later options through providers such as PayPal and Klarna
- Automated refunds and chargeback handling
- Faster payouts for improved cash flow
- One point of contact for support through Shopware
- Central payment management inside the Shopware Admin
At the same time, Shopware keeps its open architecture. Merchants can still use other payment providers such as Stripe, Adyen, and Mollie if needed.
What this means for merchants and agencies
For merchants, this means less complexity and more control over payment processes.
For agencies like us, it means we can focus even more on creating value on top of the platform, such as improving checkout experiences, performance, and overall conversion strategies, while relying on a stronger native payment layer.
Looking ahead
Shopware Payments is another step toward a more complete commerce platform where key processes are increasingly handled within one system.
We are currently working with Shopware implementations for clients and are curious to see how this will evolve in real-world projects and what opportunities it will bring for the ecosystem.
Shopware Payments is currently available for merchants in Germany and Austria, with a gradual rollout to other European markets planned.
